Janeen Antoine
Janeen Antoine (Sicangu Lakota) is a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. She came to the Bay Area to attend Stanford, later cofounding American Indian Contemporary Arts to promote native arts and culture, organizing scores of exhibits in a 20 year span. She curated Honor the Earth’s “Impacted Nations” traveling exhibit addressing extractive industries impacts on Native Nations, and “Native Lands Forever,” a Native activism exhibit at Intertribal Friendship House. She speaks Spanish, French, and some Lakota and taught Lakota language at IFH. She produces and cohosts Bay Native Circle, a weekly Native interest program on kpfa, and is the SF Office Manager at the International Indian Treaty Council.
