Timimie Gassko Märak

Speaker, poet and word weaver.


The first to hold the title of “Poet In Residence” at the Venice biennale and
together with ‘The Sámi Pavilion’ curators Beaska Niillas and Liisa-Rávná Finbog, Märak is also one of the three founding members of Hásstuheaddji collective, a Sámi led think-tank that gather thinkers, performers and artists to dialogue and reflect. 



They are the initiater of “Queerness and culture” a project created to combine the connection between generations learning from each other when passing on traditions with creating traditional regalia for queer and gender non conforming Sámis, something they talk about in their Native2Native and Queer2Queer livestreams on Instagram.



2022 they initiated the first Sápmi Pride tour on the Norwegian side of Sápmi.



They’ve preformed during Aabaakwad in Venice, at the Arctic Art Summit in White Horse, Canda.
And worked with FULs as an actor in their pre election anti- nationalistic performance “Tal till nationen” (Speech to the nation) that was live streamed to over 20 places all over Sweden.



2024 they have contributed to the project “After the sun”, and exhibition shown in Buffalo and Copenhagen.


And as part of Kollektiv Norden creating the book and play “Asylet ved verdens ende”

Worked and preformed during the 10 year anniversary of Sápmi Pride.
And is now also working together with their mother at the first preschool for Sámi and Meänkieli speaking children in Stockholm.



Timimie puts just as much in between the lines they write as in the words they choose to share. Like them, their poetry is a combination of deep roots and conections, read at a big city pace
